i guess they wanted to make Myrrah more important, her story doesnt really make much sense without being mother of the locusts, but i agree thats a way better origin. Just.just why? This retcon was great, in my own opinion, cause it fixed all the logistical problems the Locust had before, without changing their fundamental nature. Over many generations they naturally evolved into the Locust. These cavemen were mutated by low levels of imulsion exposure and turned into the first sires. They changed the backstory so that instead of being descended from human miners mutated 70 years before the first game, the Locust were descended from ancient humans that got trapped in the hollow hundreds of thousands of years before the first game starts. The worst part is, at one point Microsoft even fixed their dumb origin with a series of graphic novels that ret conned it. The only real problem with the Locust was their stupid and logistically impossible backstory. In addition to their own nation and architecture, they had an interesting culture, and more than one interesting religion. I mostly agree with you, but the locust had even more stuff. Aside from this, the writing is good, but you have carte blanche to create creatures and humanoids that are fun and interesting and its just disappointing that we never get that.
I get that 4 was a mistake and they had to continue on from that, but man its disappointing that instead of fighting some cool Kantus screaming to buff his allies with his cool hat, im just walking up to pale-grunt #6969 and turning him to mulch. not interesting.Ī 4/10 brain-queen with a half rotted crystal face, probably wouldnt even spit on you

I think the writers stuck themselves in a hole after 3 (considering it was supposed to end the series) because the swarm are a vastly inferior and less interesting enemy than the locust.
